Are you looking for the best 12 month broadband deals?

Whether you're a university student seeking a short-term broadband contract or someone looking for more flexibility, a 12 month deal might be the perfect solution. We offer a wide range of options and tools to help your decision-making process and aim to assist you in finding the best deals available on the market, including unique benefits that may not be available elsewhere.

Things to consider when choosing a broadband contract:

Here at Savely, we understand the importance of finding the right deal. No one wants to get stuck in a lengthy contract they might regret later. Hence, there are specific points we recommend to consider when you're choosing your broadband.

Monthly Cost

For many people, the cost of broadband is one of the most critical factors. Always compare the rates of different deals to find one that aligns with your budget. Furthermore, always check if a deal has additional costs not included in the monthly price displayed, such as upfront set-up charges. Here at Savely, we display any set-up charges you might face on the deal so you can make an informed decision.

Broadband Speed

Broadband speed is another critical factor that will play a role in choosing a broadband deal. You must consider what you will be using the internet for and how many devices you need to be connected daily. A standard broadband deal may be sufficient for your needs if you're the only one who uses the internet for browsing. However, if multiple people are using the broadband regularly, such as working from home, streaming on multiple devices or playing online video games - in that case, you may want to opt for a 12-month fibre broadband deal with faster download and upload speeds.

It's also worth noting that your average broadband speed will depend on where you live. If you need help determining what speeds you can get in your area, you can use our helpful tool to find out and make a better-informed decision. Remember, if your ADSL broadband speeds are poor, do not fear! There is always a possibility that you can get fibre broadband in your area.

Additional add-ons

Most deals you will come across will offer a line rental with your broadband, as it is required to connect you to the network. Additionally, you might be interested in looking at deals that offer call plans. Choosing the right call plan with your broadband will be more cost-effective if you use your phone line regularly; therefore, you should select the deal that will cover all your needs and save you money.

Customer Service

It's essential to consider the quality of the broadband provider's customer service. You can always check the reviews and ratings of the provider's customer service to understand how helpful their customer service is at resolving issues. You can also look for additional features that can make a difference in customer services, such as the availability of a 24/7 helpline or the option for online chat support.

Which broadband providers offer 12 month broadband deals?

Unfortunately, most broadband providers offer 18 month or 24 month contracts for their broadband packages. These contract lengths help them deliver more attractive broadband deals at the cost of tying you into a longer contract.

However, a few broadband providers offer 12 month broadband deals - our favourites are NOW Broadband and Cuckoo. NOW Broadband is a value-based broadband provider that has for a long time provided 12 month contracts and rolling contracts. We love them for their flexibility and value for money. You can read more about NOW Broadband here.

Cuckoo is a newer addition to the UK broadband market. They've joined the market with unique propositions, including 12 month broadband and rolling month broadband deals. Cuckoo promises no price rises at the end of your 12 month contract, so you can stay with them, out of contract and pay the same price.

Can you cancel part way through your broadband contract?

The short answer is yes, but we don't recommend it. When you cancel part way through your contract, you'll receive something called an early cancellation fee from your provider. These fees can add up to hundreds of pounds, primarily determined by how long you have left on your contract. These cancellation charges rarely justify any savings you would expect from switching.

There is one time when cancelling mid-way through your contract might be more cost-effective. Sometimes broadband providers will run special deals that give you credit towards any cancellation fees you may face with your current provider. These credits can often be quite lucrative, exceeding £200. This is the only time we recommend considering switching while in contract. However, we recommend adding everything to ensure you won't be out of pocket by switching.

Is a 12 month broadband contract right for you?

The answer depends on what is important to you. While a 12 month contract offers less of a commitment, you might pay more per month than an 18 or 24 month contract. Also, you usually won't find any 'perks' with a 12 month broadband deal. We regularly see 18 or 24 month deals offering Prepaid Mastercards, Gift Cards and Premium Support perks, whereas 12 month deals rarely provide such incentives.

If a 12 month contract isn't your most important switching factor, you'll have a wider choice of broadband deals. Here are some other types of deals you'll find in the market.

  • Mobile Broadband - Is fibre or FTTP not available near you? Mobile broadband operated on a 4G or 5G network can offer fibre broadband speeds.

  • Rolling Contracts - Is 12 months too long of a commitment for you? A small handful of providers offer rolling contract broadband deals. However, you will most likely need to pay a setup fee, and the amount you pay per month is typically higher than other deals in the market.

  • Ultrafast Fibre Broadband - Are you looking for an Ultrafast, premium broadband connection? A handful of providers now offer speeds of up to 1000Mbps.

We are here to help.

A 12 month broadband deal perfectly balances long-term contracts and more expensive solutions like rolling broadband deals. We can help you find a deal that fits your needs and budget by considering cost, broadband speeds, contract length and additional features.
